Laura mercier translucent setting powder4/11/2023 ![]() ![]() I will probably use this powder mixed with the original or probably very rarely. ![]() I'm honestly not a huge fan of the gold shimmer because on my already warm skin tone, it looks even more gold. If you like a glowing finish to your makeup, I would recommend the Givenchy Prisme Libre Loose Powder, the Guerlain Meteorites, or the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders instead. I feel like that this powder is not so much a "glow" powder but a shimmer powder. The powder does set my makeup very well but I have many luminous setting powders that offer a much more natural glow and freshness. I feel like I have several very subtle highlighters that will give me a similar effect to this powder, which I feel like defeats the purpose of a setting powder. I just feel like it borders too closely to a highlighter. Overall, I feel like this is a nice powder but the amount of shimmer in it is actually too much for my taste and I love a good glow. In fact, on my warm skin tone I really don't like it because the gold shimmer is emphasized and makes me look very gold. The biggest problem I have with the shimmer being gold is that it isn't a universal shade and I don't think it would flatter every skin tone. The shimmer is also quite gold and can make you look like one of those robotic-men you find standing around on the boardwalk! Seriously, be careful about applying too much of this powder on! I have found my skin looking like I may have accidentally dusted my face with gold highlighter instead of powder. They are not large particles of shimmer but while they are super fine particles there is a lot of of shimmer running through the powder. The powder has noticeable very fine shimmer and glow. While I love a luminous finish to my face, this powder borders on too glowy. This is crucial because of the glow factor of this powder. be sure to only dip very lightly and work the product into the brush evenly before applying. I find it is best to use a little bit at a time, taking from the cap first but if you do dip into the powder directly. I found that it does set my makeup for a whole 6 to 8 hours and it looks very flawless and oil-free. It prevents oil from breaking though and breaking down makeup. The powder is super fine and sets your foundation really well. ![]()
